Walkera F210 FPV Racing Drone Reviews And Features

Walkera entered the world of FPV racing with the 250 Runner in 2015, a serious FPV drone at the time. If you now compare it to the Walkera F210, you see a huge advance in the evolution of engineering and technology used. The Walkera 250 Runner was a good model, one of the first on the market to be ready to fly, with all the necessary components such as the OSD and the camera. Walkera went even further with the F210; they learned a lot from the previous model, they listened to customer feedback on the things they wanted to see changed or improved and incorporated them into the F210. The Walkera F210 is a truly competitive model right out of the box. Not only is it great for people who want to get started in FPV racing and don’t want to build their own model, but it’s a great option for pilots who are experienced and want a ready-to-go racing drone. with an extremely clean and responsive steering. Let’s see all this in more detail through our full review of the Walkera F210. Hang in there, we’re on the gas!

Pros
  • Strong carbon fiber and aluminum frame
  • Agile and responsive management
  • Customizable flight firmware
  • User-friendly flight modes
Cons
  • Sometimes it does not detect the DEVO 7 controller

PACKAGING

Everything is perfectly packed in the box of the Walkera F210, making it an ideal solution for transport and storage. The drone comes in a white box with a nice foam interior, with F210 written in white on the top cover. The foam also acts as good protection when transporting your drone.
The first thing you will find is a manual and a quick start guide, as well as a CD for the controller. The battery is 4S 1300mAh 40C battery, with XT60 connector.

You will also be happy to find a toolbox with a wrench and a few hex keys.

You have three cables: one is a charger cable, one is a USB to micro USB cable to adjust CleanFlight settings on the controller, and the other is a cable for your RC drive port, so that you can fly in training mode.

You also get a charger with a balancing plug and a wall adapter. There is a full set of additional self-tightening propellers, two clockwise, two counterclockwise.
To prevent the battery from slipping in flight, you have a non-slip mat.

As for the Devo 7 radio controller, it’s the same as the one on the Runner 250, with the option of using regular AA batteries, or your own power source.

The most important in the package is the quadcopter itself: a nice carbon fiber drone. The receiving antennas can effectively be pushed back and forth without hitting the propellers.

DESIGN AND SOLIDITY

Similar to what was done on the Runner 250, it is a modular design. Everything is basically plug-and-play compatible, like the ESCs, which have a slot pin system, which connects to the main power board, so no wires are used. The ESC can be removed by simply removing a few screws.
Walkera uses 5-inch propellers.

The whole frame is made of carbon fiber with aluminium parts in the front which is a very interesting feature when it comes to FPV as collisions are an integral part of the sport.
In the aluminium parts, there are LEDs and aluminium parts which also protect the interior of the racing drone.
Inside there is a dedicated board on which the flight controller, power distribution and all electronics are placed. OSD (On Screen Display) and FPV transmitter plug directly into this board, in the middle of the frame. The aluminium parts protect the quadcopter and give it a very rigid and solid structure at the front.

This is also good from an engineering point of view, keeping important components well protected from the outside.
Another protective feature is a set of engine guards made of plastic, not as strong as carbon fiber, but still, give good protection to the outer edges of the frame so that the engine is not damaged by impact.

The ESCs are not soldered on, but they are plugged into the mainboard, so if you want to change these parts, it’s easy to unscrew them, take them out, put in new ones, and you’re good to go.

For the front-mounted camera, which comes with the harness, there is a protective frame around it. The extra protection isn’t 100% perfect, but it shows that the engineers listened to the issues voiced by the FPV community and incorporated this solution.

When it comes to the technology used on the Walkera F210, it lies in the details: it has two LEDs mounted on the front and rear. The ones on the back have different colors, and indicate the status of the drone, but they also indicate movement, left or right, a nice feature to have, especially if you are flying in dark environments or indoors. The drones that follow you can also see where you are and where you are going to turn.

On the OSD (On Screen Display) which also comes with the beam, you can see the battery voltage, the electronics drop voltage, and also an artificial horizon to bring the drone back to the correct position of the flight. The OSD can be turned on or off using a switch on the bottom of the drone.

At the rear, the Walkera F210 has a built-in 200 MW VTX. The drone comes with a CloveLeaf 5.8G (SMA) antenna for video transmission, a pretty standard set up these days. Again this is a very clean and tidy set. Everything is integrated into the frame, but it is also removable for servicing or maintenance if necessary.

CAMERA

The camera, one of the strengths of the Walkera F210, is a high-resolution 700TVL camera, with an adjustable angle, 120 ° visual range and night vision capability.
The camera offers real-time video transmission even in bad conditions, such as a cloudy day or night. It has high-performance sensors. Its photosensitive sensors can automatically adjust the display based on brightness, allowing pilots to focus more on their flight.
Keep in mind that the model does not come with an external camera mount, so it is not possible to use your GoPro or Mobius camera.
Walkera underestimated the importance of providing support for an HD recording camera because everyone likes to record their last fastest flight or their last crash against a tree.

BATTERY AND FLIGHT TIME
The whole system is powered by a 4S configuration, which means 14.8 volts.
When FPV was just getting started, 3S was the norm, but now with more powerful motors and better performing ESCs, a 4S battery is needed to utilize the full FPV racing potential of the drone. The 1300mAh 40C 4S battery also comes with the ready-to-fly bundle. The expected flight time is between 5-9 minutes, depending on your flying style and how aggressive you are on the joysticks.

CONTROLLER

The flight controller (FC) is one of the stars of the Walkera F210 model: it is an F3 flight controller.
You can actually connect it to the Clean Flight software on your PC and make the adjustments or settings you want, either on the flight modes or on the PIDs.
That being said, it comes out of the box, so you don’t need to make any adjustments unless of course you’re an advanced user and want to tune it to your liking.
Experts can set flight control parameters according to their needs and exchange experiences and ideas.
Note that when ordering, you can choose between a DEVO 7 transmitter or a DEVO 10 transmitter. The DEVO 10 comes with a color display and many more features to define. It is sufficient to start with the DEVO 7 because you can also use features like Expo and Dual Rate. There’s nothing fancy about the LCD screen, but you won’t have to change settings often.

FLIGHT PERFORMANCE
The F210 has three flight modes. These are advanced, intermediate and stabilized. The default stabilization mode is ideal for beginners learning to control the drone. The intermediate mode allows you to perform a number of impressive tricks. You can use the advanced mode after gaining enough experience. It is recommended for races and championships. Pilots can switch between any of these modes at will. It is a very agile and stable drone. The Walkera F210 responds very quickly to controls. The motors stop almost instantly when you push the throttle to the lowest position. It is capable of reaching 80 km / h for a range of up to 800 m, at full throttle.

QUALITY / PRICE RATIO AND GUARANTEE

The Walkera F210 also has a 3D version, which allows more flight acrobatics such as reverse flights or looping. With a battery, the F210 3D will set you back around 450 euros, which is something to consider if you decide to buy a Walkera F210. In the end, that would be a very good decision, considering the agility, fast flight performance, and strength of the drone.

UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS

The Walkera F210 has a lot of unique features to make it impact resistant, from the durable frame and plastic engine guards to the yellow ionized aluminum of the front camera housing. This is a defining feature, as you can enjoy your drone and keep it in the air as much as possible, with little maintenance required on your part. Even the camera’s night vision mode ensures that you will be able to fly after sunset.

CONCLUSION

The Walkera F210 is a very cool and particularly well-designed drone that brings everything you need to enter the FPV racing ring. If you compare it to other racing drones, it looks very appealing because it is a ready-to-fly drone, and at less than $ 500, it offers great value for money.
